If you can't laugh at BFS, you are never going to learn to deal with it.
BFS FAQ:
1. No, it's not bulbar
2. No, location doesn't matter
3. Yes, we have all had that symptom
4. No, you're not the exception
5. No, it's not ominous
6. Yes, you will be fine

"I did try it, and surprisingly your wife was very accommodating towards me. This sort of surprised me. You might want to have a talk with her..."

Hi Mario

I am glad you clarified this for me, because I was quite perplexed about the clown make up on my pillow when I went to bed the other night plus the implausibly large shoes left in the bed. I also found a clown nose under the duvet and when I tried it on there was some sort of odd sticky substance on it - I have no idea what this could have been. So it is a relief to know what all this was about. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

Regards
Simon

I agree that when something is directed at you it is perceived very differently. I think everyone understand that we need to be extra sensitive but we also have to give others the benefit of the doubt on their intent sometimes too.

It took me a very long time to read your one line post for some reason Mario. Anna........drool. She's easier on the eyes than Pennywise, good call.

Speaking of humor, check this old post from Mario. I loved it. Hopefully Mario doesn't mind me re-posting it.

Top Ten Lesser Known Symptoms of BFS (funny)
by MarioMangler on Wed September 24th, 2008 3:16 am

Hopefully this will be good for a laugh for someone. After all, they say that laughter is the very best medicine! I'm sure we all can relate to this.

The Top Ten Lesser-Known Symptoms of BFS

10. The remarkable ability to diagnose BFS in any other person in the world, but the complete inability to diagnose it in yourself. After all, when it's my symptoms, it's different.

9. The innate ability to seek out evil neurologists who are only here to lie to us. Bastards. We BFS'ers know that there are a lot of them.

8. The amazing ability to have a nasty sinister disease 1 hour out of the day, but no disease at all the other 23.

7. The ability to recognize every single twitch in your body, even ones you have probably had for years and just didn't notice. Holy crap, is that my pancreas?

6. Super Googling ability. A true BFSer can find any nasty disease in the world in just five key strokes. Beat that, Al Gore. The internet is mine.

5. The ability to put ourselves in the shoes of any person with any disease in any tiny little corner of the world. If someone once had Norwegian tsetse fly malaria in 1932, apparently now we have it too. After all, we heard there was muscle ache involved.

4. The magical ability to walk around the block and go to the grocery store thirty minutes after having "calf muscle atrophy."

3. The foresight to know that you will one day beat astronomical odds and make medical history by becoming the first person in 5,000 years to have BFS and later have it turn into something else. I mean, damnit, I know it has never happened before. But it will with me. I know this, because I have Jedi mind powers!

2. The Rain Man-like ability to calculate that my right forearm has only 99.999997999 percent of the strength that it did on January 8th. But 102.33333333 percent of the strength that it had on March 17th.

1. The infuriating habit of finding neurologists who apparently have no idea what neurology is, and/or have no clue what an EMG does or how an MRI works. Man, we seem to attract those idiot doctors like flies! Why do they even let them get out of medical school??

Enjoy your Wednesday, BFS sufferers. Hope you enjoyed that.

That was the very first post I ever wrote on this board! I figured I'd join the board with a bang when I joined. Glad you dug it up.

Also glad you like the new avatar. Anna K has always been very special to me. I'm sure we can also turn her into a wonderful metaphor for BFS, if we put our heads to it.

Christian 88,

Every symptom you listed, along with the twitching, are all symptoms of having too much Candida in your system. Don't take my word for it though. Research 'Candida' and 'Leaky Gut Syndrome.' I had pretty much every symptom you described and now I am symptom free. For whatever reason Candida is almost completely ignored by the conventional mainstream medical community. I won't say any more than that for now. PM me if you have any questions. Good luck in your quest for answers.

SAM, that better be a gluten-free margarita with some crystallized valerian root on the rim of that glass.

Christian, I wish you wouldnt leave because of some joking around. You have just as much rite to be here as anyone. I really dont think anyone meant any harm but I also understand why it may have been hard for you to find the humor in this because you are the one who is dealing with your particular symptoms with no real answers for them. I hope you are doing ok. And I think you should stay on the site for support, there are people here who will support you, if they support a paranoid nut job like me then you can get yours as well. Take care and please re-think leaving the site. :)

I think mommylondon is absolutely right. Things get so serious on this board that we need a bit of levity sometimes. However, If you felt that this came at your expense than that is not right. No one should be made to feel that their syptoms are the butt of a joke especially if your original questions were not addressed in the first place. However after reading back the posts I did find that at least one of them was trying to address your symptoms. I hope you are doing ok as well and hope that you come back to this board for the support you need as we all do. I would also like to hear about your follow up with Mayo and am interested in what they have to say about your new syptoms.

OHMYGOSH, this is HILARIOUS! I am so posting this on my frig. Only BFS'ers will get this...how funny, if you had read this to me a year and 3 months ago (who's counting?) before my "journey" began with this...I would not have gotten one of these jokes. But, now, ohmygosh....thank you, Mario, whoever you are, for the wonderful humor in all of this. Life is hard, too short and laughter DOES help.
BTW...does anyone know how to post a picture on here that is small enough...stop laughing all you intelligent computer users out there....I can't get a pic uploaded because it is too big. Help?! And please no sex jokes in response! (Yes, I know, the "it is too big" comment is just begging for a "that's what she said..." after it....but refrain, please. :D
